Osaka Steel to Develop Export Market

Osaka Steel launches offshore sales units at the headquarters and Kumamoto plant in May to improve the offshore sales. The units have total 16 sales persons including 9 for headquarters and 7 for Kumamoto plant. The firm tries to improve the marketing for growing offshore market along with better procurement of ferrous scrap and subsidiary materials. The firm started the just in time activity in September 2007 as a part of the business reengineering. The firm improves the order management, procurement and inventory control of semi-finished products and products. The firm reducing low grade scrap consumption through the better management while the firm tries to develop offshore scrap sourcing and reduce inventory of ferroalloy and subsidiary materials. The firm also improves the offshore marketing resulting 20% of export rate in February and March compared with 7% in April-September 2007.
