Yamato Kogyo Establishes Shaped Steel Plant in Bahrain

Yamato Kogyo, Japanese major electric furnace maker, entered into the contract to establish joint steel company in Bahrain with Gulf Industrial Investment (GIIC) in Bahrain on Tuesday. Joint company’s name is United Steel Company. Investment rate is 51% of GIIC, 49% of Yamato Kogyo. Join company has direct reduction iron plant which has the capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, 2 steel making plants which have the capacity of total 1.3 million tonnes and 2 shaped steel plants which have the capacity of total 1.2 million tonnes. They plan to start the operation of these plants in the middle of 2011.Yamato Kogyo established steel plant in USA, Thailand or South Korea which these countries have enough steel demand, which entertained to construct steel plant in Middle Asia which has strong demand for shaped steel. GIIC is the subsidiary of Gulf Investment Corporation in Kuwait, which is operating iron ore pellet plant. The plant capacity is 5 million tonnes per year. GIIC is constructing no.2 plant which has the capacity of 6 million tonnes.
