Firm H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is expected to keep flat at around 119,000 yen per tonne without freight from dealers’ warehouse for 200 by 100 millimeters width around Tokyo when Nippon Steel didn’t change the selling price for the contract in April-June. The order from users to dealers becomes slow when users increased the order earlier in February-March. The demand is dull. Building construction floor space decreased to 132.6 million square meters by 3.1% in March from a year earlier. Housing construction starts decreased to 83,991 by 15.6% in March from a year earlier. Small-middle general contractors are stopping building construction projects or reducing the project size due to rising steel products price or other building material price. Many dealers expect the demand keeps slow until summer.Many dealers are anticipating clean risks for June-July, with predictions of users’ bankruptcy, and apprehend some dealers may sell at cheaper price for recurring of sales volume.Dealers are watching Nippon Steel’s selling price for the contract in July. Each maker raised the selling price by 30,000-43,000 yen per tonne from the beginning of this year, which are mulling more price hike duet o rising material price.
