NSSC Develops Air Conditioner Connecting Stainless Tube

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel (NSSC) announced on Friday the firm succeeded the development of the world first stainless flexible tube for air conditioner. The firm expects the products, which has 3.4 times yield strength, 1.8 times tensile strength and around 60% lighter weight compared with traditional copper tube, could serve the better cost performance of air conditioner. The firm starts sample shipment in summer and realizes monthly 8,000 sets of shipment. The firm developed the tube with the ferrite stainless with higher workability, NSSC PDX. The firm expects the tube has better economical merit when the stainless tube has 0.3 millimeters gauge compared with copper tube with 0.8 mm. The firm confirmed the stainless tube can secure same air conditioner performance as copper tube through the test. The firm tries to market the stainless tube as connecting tube between inner and outer house machines at first expanding the applications.
