Japan Wire Rod Shipment Drops by 3.5% in F2007

Japanese shipment of carbon steel wire rod and bar in coil decreased by 3.5% to 1.729 million tonnes for domestic market in fiscal 2007 ended March 2008 from fiscal 2006, according to Japan Wire Products Association. The shipment apparently decreased due to limited availability of steel source and slower building demand after renewal of building standard law. Many interests report the demand of wire products is slower in fiscal 2008 from fiscal 2007 while the market price keeps strong due to higher cost price. The slower products market could impact on the material of wire rod and coil shipment.
