Japanese steel export increased by 0.4% to 3.189 million tonnes in May from a year earlier, announced by Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. The export value increased by 4.2% to 368.151 billion yen. The import decreased by 12.9% to 695,767 tonnes while the import value increased by 8.1% to 100.485 billion yen. The import volume decreased due to lower shipment for USA, European Union and Asia while the value increased both for export and import. See attached table.
