Yukita Electric Wire Starts New Harness Plant in China

Osaka based electric wire maker, Yukita Electric Wire opened a new plant for wiring harnesses and power codes in Jiangxi, China. Yukita now operates 3 wholly owned plants in China, those which are in Shanghai, Anhui and Jiangxi. The firm aims to improve competitiveness with lower labor costs at inland China.Jiangxi plant is located in an industrial estate of Shangyou. The plant started commercial operation on 24 March with 150 employees, which initially produces wiring harnesses and, in May 2008, will start production of power cords and EMS (electronic manufacturing service).A plant building was constructed on a site of 26,640 square meters, which is the largest among Yukita’s 3 plants in China. Yukita plans to increase employees to 500 at Jiangxi within 2008 and to build another plant on the site to organize integrated productive system for electric appliance cables in future.Yukita imports 70% of electric wires produced in China to Japanese market. Demand for wiring harnesses is currently steady from plasma panel displays, liquid crystal displays, in-vehicle appliances, solar cells and gas appliances. Yukita fully operates its plants in Japan and China with firm demand.Yukita has also expanded the other plants in China. In Shanghai, 2 years ago, another factory building was built and employees were increased to 1,100. In Anhui, Yukita expanded the plant and employees to 1,200 in February 2008.
