Japanese Steel Sheet Export Price Increases by Over US$ 200 to Home Electronics

Japanese steel makers almost completed export price negotiation for coated steel sheet applied to home electronics, increasing the export price by over US$ 200 per tonne for hot dip sheet against non-Japanese consumers after April compared with January-March. Japanese makers are also negotiating with Japanese home electronics makers.Japanese integrated steel makers have offered the hike by over US$ 200 to Japanese and non-Japanese consumers due to higher iron ore and oil costs. Electric appliance makers initially resisted against the hike but accepted to secure steel sheet stably with rising steel market price in the world.Surface treatment steel sheet market price is over US$ 1,000 per tonne in Asia, which almost reached at US$ 1,100 in Europe. The market price would keep upward trend worldwide when material costs are rising.
