Mitsubishi Aluminum to Have 200,000t Capacity with Ongoing Capex

Hiroshi Yao, new president of Mitsubishi Aluminum, explained the current operations of the firm at a press conference on 4 April. Mr. Yao said the firm will introduce a new hot finisher at Fuji plant, Shizuoka, Japan and start operation in fiscal 2009 ending March 2010 as originally planned. As to financial results, he explained non-consolidated revenue is estimated at 93 billion yen and recurring profit at 3 billion yen for F2007. The profit would almost halve compared with F2006 despite of year-on-year higher revenue due to rough fluctuation of primary aluminium price.Mr. Yao said Mitsubishi Aluminum could have annual output capacity at 200,000 million tonnes as total of plates, extrusions and foils after the firm finishes ongoing capital expenditure for productive equipment including a hot finisher at Fuji plant. In F2007, the firm sold aluminium products at total 178,000 tonnes approximately, as flat as F2006, he said. Interest-bearing debt is estimated at 26 billion yen at the end of F2007, increasing slightly from F2006. Non-consolidated operating profit is estimated 10% higher than recurring profit.
