Color Galvalume Price Moves Flatly

Color galvalume steel price keeps flat at around 260,000 yen per tonne for lighter coil with 0.35 millimeter thickness by 914mm width and 230,000 yen per tonne for heavier coil.

Dealers’ galvalume shipment moves decreasing by around 20% in October from a year earlier. Shipment could increase in late October but trend keeps flat under weak demand.

Demand remains stagnant from both residential and non-residential buildings. Nippon Steel announced that the firm increases hot coil price by 5,000 yen per tonne. Meanwhile a dealer source said they are facing difficulty to pass the higher cost on the product price.

Dealers’ stock is decreasing since integrated steel makers regulate hot coil supply to galvalume makers. But demand is still at lower level against supply. Dealers are still in price negotiation to reflect coil upsurge in July. Additional hike seems difficult. No one tries to reduce the price but it needs some time to pass the cost increase in July.
