Rolled Al Output Shows Y/Y Increase for 7 Months in Osaka

Rolled aluminium production increased by 10.7% to 28,472 tonnes around Osaka in August from a year earlier, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The local production represented year-on-year increase for 7 months in a row. The output kept steady for thin strips while maintained weak for extrusions.

The production of flat products, including plate, round plate and strip, increased by 14% to 25,094 tonnes in August from a year ago, which represented year-on-year increase for 7 straight months. Plate production was steady mainly for thick products. The output of thin strip with less than 0.5 millimeters thickness increased by 18.7% to 16,797 tonnes thanks to the firm demand from export.

The production of extrusions and extracts decreased by 9% to 3,378 tonnes, which hit the yearly bottom. Extrusion output decreased by 12% to 2,517 tonnes impacted by stagnant construction market. The production was also low for extruded and extracted tubes.

Aluminium foil production decreased by 7.9% to 4,353 tonnes despite of firm demand for electrolytic foil to use inside capacitors.
