Japan Electric Wire Shipment Rises by 1.6% in September

Japanese electric copper wire shipment increased by 1.6% to 70,400 tonnes in copper volume in September from a yea earlier, according to around 130 members’ report by Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association. The shipment improved for almost all applications from August. The shipment of optical fiber products increased by 2.5% to 2.57 million kilometers core in August from a year earlier.

The copper wire shipment increased by 1.6% to 29,800 tonnes for construction applications in September from a year earlier, which represented first increase in 13 months. The shipment was still 30,000 tonnes, which the industry regards as good business condition, but the shipment recovered from more than 10% year to year drop for 8 months in a row.

The shipment for automobile increased in September from a year earlier, which represented increases for 13 months in a row. However, Japanese automobile output decreased in August from a year earlier, which was first drop in 13 months, according to Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. The electric wire shipment could decrease in and after October under slower demand for automobile at home and abroad.
