Furukawa-Sky Aluminum Expands Offshore Alliance Network

Furukawa-Sky Aluminium announced on Wednesday the firm acquires partial share in British aluminium rolling maker and enters into alliance with South Korean aluminium rolling maker. The firm signed memorandum of understanding with Bridgnorth Aluminium of UK, which is wholly owned subsidiary of ELVAL of Greece, to acquire 25% share in Bridgnorth Aluminium. Furukawa-Sky Aluminum also enters into partnership with Choil Aluminum of South Korea for flat products production and development.

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum invests in Bridgnorth Aluminium, which is the first investment in offshore aluminium flat rolling business in the history. Bridgnorth Aluminium makes annual 58,000 tonnes of flat products including printing plate and foil to ship for European countries and USA. Furukawa-Sky Aluminum tries to expand the sales network through the investment.

The firm also signed alliance contract with Choil Aluminum on October 20. Furukawa-Sky Aluminum will purchase 5% share in Choil Aluminum for better partnership. Furukawa-Sky Aluminum eyes sourcing hot rolled coil from Choil Aluminum to roll at the plant in Tochigi. Furukawa-Aluminum tries to develop new products through tie-up with the Korean major rolling maker with more than 110,000 tonnes of annual production.
