Japan Common Steel Orders Decrease by 1.0% in 1HH

Japanese steel makers’ carbon steel order receipt decreased by 1.0% to 28.218 million tonnes in April-September from the same period of last year, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. The order receipt increased to 11.56 million tonnes by 6.2%.

As for domestic demand, the orders increased by 1.3% to 12.157 million tonnes from manufacturing industries, by 0.7% to 5.954 million tonnes for automobiles, by 4.3% to 2.804 million tonnes for industrial machines, by 5.9% to 1.341 million tonnes for shipbuilding while decrease by 3.8% to 989,000 tonnes for electric machines.

Construction related orders decreased by 2.1% to 6.778 million tonnes. The order reception decreased to 3.786 million tonnes by 4.7% for building construction while increased to 1.629 million tonnes by 5.7% for civil engineering. Orders from dealers and distributors, about 70% of which are used for construction decreased to 7.979 million tonnes by 3.1%

The order in September decreased to 4.522 million tonnes by 4.7%, which decreased to 1.69 million tonnes by 0.9% for the export.
