Japan Cu Electric Cable Shipment Downs by Y/Y 2.2% in 1H

Japanese domestic shipment of electric wire and cable totaled 411,500 tonnes of copper for a half year to September 2008, according to Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association. The shipment decreased by 2.2% from the corresponding period of 2007. The shipment for construction related market dropped by 8% year-on-year, which is the main volume field. The shipment of optical fiber products totaled 16.8 million kilometers of fiber core for April-September, which increased by 15.5% from a year earlier.
