H-beam Market Price Drops around Osaka and Tokyo

H-beam market price decreased by 8,000 yen to 95,000 yen per tonne for the base size until last week around Osaka, which was below 100,000 yen for the first time in 9 months. The market price is expected to drop in near future.

The market price has decreased by total 32,000 yen per tonne from August. Several electric furnaces announced to reduce the selling price. The demand keeps stagnant when users are reducing the purchase volume with the anticipation of a fall.

A dealer source said dealer’s inventory is decreasing slightly due to the adjustment of the inventory or makers’ output reduction. Another dealer source said some dealers are selling the product at below 90,000 yen when users are strongly requesting the price cut.

H-beam market price around Tokyo decreased by 5,000 yen to 110,000 yen per tonne last week. Equal angle steel market price decreased by 2,000 yen to 108,000 yen and channel steel market price decreased by 2,000 yen to 113,000 yen. Electric furnace steel makers are reducing the selling price around Tokyo due to decreasing purchase price for ferrous scrap.

Makers announced the price cut by 40,000-50,000 yen for H-beam and by 30,000 yen for angle and channel steel.
