Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 11,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 12,800 yen for H1 and at around 14,500 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under tight supply.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 17,000-19,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The makers increased the purchase price last week and the dealers also increased the purchase price from the market. A dealer source said the scrap supply from the market keeps tight and the dealers are forced to increase the purchase price when the steel makers raise the scrap price.
