Hanwa Expands Steel Sheet Processing for Automobile in Dongguan

Hanwa Steel Service, Hanwa Corporation’s subsidiary, will introduce a large size slitter and a leveler in Dongguan, China in January 2009. The demand is expanding from automobiles. The new slitter’s processing capacity is 5,000 tonnes per month and the new leveler’s capacity is 3,000 tonnes per month. Hanwa Steel Service increases the processing capacity of Dongguan by 2.3 times to 14,400 tonnes per month. Additionally, Hanwa Steel Service started the processing business for stainless steels to supply for office automation equipment. The firm invested US$ 7 million for a slitter, a leveler and stainless steel processing.

A new slitter processes steel sheet with 0.5-6.0 millimeters thick and 300-1,300 mm width. A new leveler processes steel sheet with 0.3-3.2 mm thick and 300-1,300 mm width.

The subsidiary will start stainless steel sheet processing in spring 2009. The firm constructed a new building for stainless steel processing and introduced 3 mini slitters. The capacity is 300 tonnes per month. The plant starts the operation in 2009 and supplies the products for OA equipment or mobile electronics devices.

The no.1 mini slitter processes stainless steel sheet with 0.1-0.8 mm thick and 100-6,300 mm width. The no.2 and no.3 slitters process stainless steel sheet with 0.1-1.2 mm thick and 15-500 mm width.

The capital of Hanwa Steel Service is US$ 13 million. There are 80 ermployess. The processing capacity totals 6,400 tonnes per month.
