Tokyo’s Makers Cut Flat Bar, Angle Steel Output by 50-60%

Steel output reduction move expanded to flat steel and angle. Tokyo based major flat steel maker, Oji Steel reduces the production by 50% in December and January from a year earlier level. The firm adjusts the production to the lower demand by limiting the operation to Saturday and Sunday during the 2 months. The firm also stops the steel making and rolling operations for 2 weeks from December 28 to January 10 for yearend and New Year holiday while the holiday is a week in usual year.

Tokyo based angle maker, Tokyo Kohtetsu reduces the production by 60% in December from a year earlier level when the order receipt decreases by 50-60%. The firm stops the operation from December 19 to January 6 for the rolling and from December 27 to January 6 for steel making as the yearend holiday. The stoppage is 4 days longer for steel making and 11 days longer for rolling from usual year.
