Japan Construction Machinery Shipment Drops by 21.5% in November

Japanese construction machinery shipment decreased by 21.5% to 171.9 billion yen in November from a year earlier, which decreased for 2 months in a row, announced by Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association on Thursday. The shipment decreased by 31.6% to 59.1 billion yen for domestic market and by 15.0% to 112.8 billion yen for offshore market. The shipment for offshore market recorded the first drop in 80 months while the domestic shipment decreased for 8 months in a row.

The domestic shipment decreased for 9 items including more than 10% drop for 7 items in November from a year earlier while the tunneling machinery shipment increased by 98.0% to 500 million yen. The shipment for offshore market decreased for 7 items including more than 10% drop for 5 items while the shipment increased by 30.4% to 11.1 billion yen for construction crane, by 2941.9% to 900 million yen for tunneling machine and by 46.1% to 400 million yen for foundation work equipments.

The shipment increased for 5 areas in November from a year earlier including Asian countries, which increased for 26 months. However, the shipment decreased in 5 areas of all 9 areas.
