Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 14,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 15,800 yen for H1 and at around 17,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to get weakening due to slower export transaction.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 20,000-22,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade. Most of the makers keep the price level since end of January despite of the major production cut. Higher export shipping supported the price level but recent export slump could impact on the price.
