Joetsu Bronz1 Opens New Scrap Yard in Nagoya

Joetsu Bronz1 Corporation (Joetsu “Bronze One” Corporation), Japanese bronze ingot and casting product maker headed in Niigata, started commercial operation of its new scrap yard in Nagoya, Japan this month. The firm starts metal scrap collection and export at its strategic new yard on Pacific Ocean side of Japan. The firm plans to deal 2,000-tonne metal scrap per month for fiscal 2009 (Apr09-Mar10) by large-size heavy machine introduction and sales staff expansion at the yard within March. The investment totals approximately 600 million yen.

Joetsu Bronz1 had operated scrap yards only in Niigata so far. Scrap collection in Pacific Ocean side areas had taken transporting time and cost. The firm selected Nagoya where there are favorable quays and good volume of scrap generation with smooth access from both Tokyo and Osaka.

The new yard’s site is 4,950 square meters with 790-square-meter building. Main facilities include a 60-tonne truck scale, 2 large-size heavy machines and 2 lifts. One of heavy machines will be introduced in March.

The firm plans to collect copper and copper alloy scrap for export and self consumption while also deal stainless steel scrap, chrome scrap and iron scrap to supply to its group company. The firm also plans to export aluminium scrap.
