Japanse steel export decreased by 34.4% to 1.985 million tonnes in January from a year earlier while steel import declined by 31.5% to 411,949 tonnes, according to the trade statistics by Ministry of Finance. In value, Japanese steel export decreased by 21.3% to 244.779 billion yen while the import declined by 14.7% to 65.414 billion yen. Both export and import widely decreased. Export decreased for all regions except for USA, down by 60% for EU and by 38% for Asia in volume. Import volume decreased for all regions except for EU and import value declined for all regions other than Russia.
