Japan Carbon Steel Export Drops by 9.2% in November

Japanese carbon steel export decreased by 9.2% to 1.797 million tonnes in November from a year earlier, which decreased for 2 months in a row, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. The export dropped by 14.6% from October due to slowing economy in Asia. The total steel export decreased by 41.5% for South Korea from a year earlier.

The total steel export including pig iron and ferroalloys decreased by 16.9% to 2.435 million tonnes in November from a year earlier, which decreased for 2 months in a row and hit the lowest level after 2.266 million tonnes in January 2006. The export decreased by 18.8% from October. The export decreased by 22.7% to 362,000 tonnes for special steel and by 16.9% to 51,000 tonnes for processed steel products.

The export of carbon steel hot rolled wide strip decreased by 27.5% to 400,000 tonnes in November from a year earlier. The export decreased by 4.3% to 389,000 tonnes for galvanizing steel and by 10.8% to 251,000 tonnes for plate. The export increased by 51.1% to 87,000 tonnes for seamless pipe and by 29.1% to 41,000 tonnes for bar.

The total steel export decreased by 41.5% to 498,000 tonnes for South Korea in November from a year earlier. The export decreased by 23.2% to 206,000 tonnes for Taiwan and by 9.4% to 470,000 tonnes for china.
