Copper Scrap Price Rises by 5-10 yen in Tokyo

Copper scrap market price increased by 5-10 yen per kilogram around Tokyo on Monday while some items showed lower gain mainly for high grade scrap. Especially, market price of new cutting brass scrap, for which brass products makers’ purchase price decreased widely, was flat despite of higher official copper ingot price.

The copper scrap increased mainly for lower grade scrap while the high grade scrap price gain was lower when the supply is easing. The price is 275-285 yen per kg for no.1 copper wire scrap and 250-260 yen for high grade copper new cutting scrap.

The brass scrap price was flat at 220-230 yen for new cutting scrap while brass turning scrap increased by 5-6 yen to 190-200 yen. The bronze scrap price increased by 5 yen to 290-300 yen for new cutting grade.

Nippon Mining & Metals increased the official copper ingot price by 10,000 yen to 350,000 yen per tonne on Monday. The firm reflects higher offshore market and lower yen rate.
