Japan Electronic Materials Output Drops by 31% in November

Japanese electronic materials production decreased by 31% to 27.448 billion yen in November 2008 from a year earlier, according to Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association. The production decreased for all items including metal, magnet and ceramics in November under the global economy downturn.

The metal material production decreased by 52 % to 2.64 billion yen in November from a year earlier. The electronic tube and lead frame material decreased by 63% to 1.23 billion yen while the raw material price declined. Other metal materials, including for spring, welding and resister decreased by 47 % to 1.41 billion yen.

Permanent magnet production, which demand moved steadily decreased by 16% to 8.47 billion yen in November from a year earlier. Rare-earth magnet production decreased by 14% to 7.03 billion yen from a year earlier for the output of automobile and home electronic appliance decreased while ferrite magnet production decreased by 24% to 1.44 billion yen.
