Japan Aluminium Can Demand to Rise by 0.5% in 2009

Japanese aluminium can demand will increase by 0.5% to 18.52 billion units in 2009 from 2008, which is the first increase in 2 years, according to outlook by Japan Aluminum Can Recycling Association. The association estimates the demand decreased by 0.5% to 18.43 billion units in 2008 from 2007.

The association expects the demand will increase for bear and alcohol in 2009 from 2008 when people tend to consume alcohol at home under recession. Bear makers expect bear and similar alcohol sales will decrease by 2-3% in 2009 from 2008.

Japanese alcohol consumption decreased by 2.7% in taxable liquid in 2008 from 2007 while the aluminium bear can shipment decreased by 1.8% to 11.16 billion units.
