Mitsubishi Electric Metecs Raises Rolling Charge for Nickel Silver Export

Mitsubishi Electric Metecs, Japanese copper rolled products maker, raised the rolling charge for nickel silver sheet export by 100-150 yen per kilogram during the latest half year. The firm reflected higher costs for fuel, copper and nickel on the export price. The firm also examines to raise the rolling charge for domestic market.Mitsubishi Electric Metecs exports nickel silver sheet at about 150 tonnes per month mainly to China to supply electronic parts makers of China or Taiwan. Heavy oil and other substantial material costs jumped up this year. Copper price has almost tripled since 2004 while nickel price soared by 2.5 times. The firm has been suffered from productive loss expansion. The firm seems to have raised the rolling charge of nickel silver sheet export for the first time.Other Japanese nickel silver sheet exporters are Nippon Mining & Metals and Kiyomine Metal Industry. Nippon Mining & Metals exports the product at 10-20 tonnes per month and Kiyomine Metal Industry exports at 20-30 tonnes per month. The 2 companies haven’t raised the rolling charge yet.About 30% of Japanese nickel silver sheet and strip export, including cupronickel, was bound for China through fiscal 2007 (Apr07-Mar08) and the rest for Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and other countries, according to Japan Copper & Brass Association.
