Hitachi Cable to Expand High Valued Offshore Production

Hitachi Cable tries to expand the offshore production of high grade electric wire for electric machinery. The firm started study to add electron beam processing facility at offshore subsidiaries though the firm already operates 2 facilities at subsidiary in Suzhou, China. The firm tries to serve transplants of Japanese appliances makers. The subsidiary, Hitachi Cable Fine-Tech operates 11 affiliates in 8 foreign countries. The firm makes electric wire at subsidiaries in Suzhou, Singapore and USA and launches Vietnamese operation in May 2009. The subsidiary in Suzhou has around 10 billion yen sales and is main offshore plant to make electric wire. The plant is only operation for electron beam processing facility as offshore plants and provides high valued products. The firm enjoys firm demand for fluoroplastic ultra fine coaxial cable from medical equipment, personal computer and cell phone. The firm tries to expand the high valued product line to other offshore operations in order to cover strong demand from transplants of Japanese and Taiwanese makers. Hitachi Cable posted 45.9 billion yen of consolidated sales for electric wire for electric machinery in fiscal 2007 ended March 2008. The firm expects the sales reach 49 billion yen in fiscal 2008.
