DAIKI Aluminium to Replace 50t Furnace in Yuki Plant

DAIKI Aluminium Industry, Japanese largest maker of secondary aluminium alloy, will replace an aging 50-tonne furnace in Yuki plant, Ibaraki, Japan. The replacement will start on 8 August and complete at the end of September. The expenditure is about 200 million yen. DAIKI’s secondary aluminium alloy production will decrease by total 5,000 tonnes during 2 months. Demand and supply balance of aluminium scrap may loosen around Tokyo while DAIKI reduces the output.In Yuki plant, two 50-tonne furnaces and a 10-tonne furnace are in operations. A replacing 50-tonne furnace started operation in August 1972. DAIKI has maintained the furnace once or twice a year for recent years. However, the aging advanced and the firm decided the replacement to a new 50-tonne furnace. Aseismic capacity will be strengthened at the same time.The replacing furnace produces secondary aluminium alloy at 2,800-3,000 tonnes per month. Yuki plant’s output will temporarily decrease due to the replacement. DAIKI plans to cover the output decrease with other domestic plants and alloy imports from Russia and China.
