YKK AP to Construct New Plant in Saitama, Japan

YKK AP, Japanese major maker of aluminium construction materials, announced on Tuesday the firm establishes a new plant for window materials in Saitama, Japan. The firm will acquire an 86,700-square-meter site inside an industrial estate of Shobu Town, Saitama, which is under construction now, at approximately 5.4 billion yen. The definitive agreement will be concluded within September 2008 and the site will be handed over at the end of 2009.Tadahiro Yoshida, president of YKK AP, revealed the plan at a press conference on Tuesday. Mr. Yoshida said the construction will start at the beginning of 2010 and the operation will begin in 2011 the earliest. The new plant will manufacture aluminium materials for building windows and sashes. The firm will decide the details of the plant including total expenditure, output capacity and employee number.YKK AP plans a drastic reorganization of domestic plants when Japanese housing and building market has become severer. The firm is drawing up the new mid-term management plan for 2009-2012 to announce in early December of this year.
