H-Beam Price Rises by 8,000 yen/t in Tokyo

H-beam market price increased by 7,000-8,000 yen to around 127,000 yen per tonne at dealers sites around Tokyo in the week. The dealers’ higher offer is accepted by the market when they tried to increase the reselling price after Nippon Steel’s announcement for additional 15,000 yen hike. Some transaction reached 130,000 yen and the price could increase more. The dealers try to increase the reselling price to 130,000 yen per tonne level as early as possible. They could increase the price by 5,000 yen more depending on the monthly price announcement by Tokyo Steel Manufacturing and market condition. The dealers try to secure certain margin with support of supply reduction by makers. However, the demand is very slow when some building plans are postponed. The buyers could resist the higher price. The price trend depends on the supply and demand balance.
