Sankyo-Tateyama to Expand Non-Construction Light Metal Business

Sankyo-Tateyama Holdings tries to expand aluminium and light metal businesses other than construction materials for next growth. The firm targets 100 billion yen of annual sales for the businesses in 5 years from 51 billion yen for the year ending May 2008. The firm eyes consolidation of Sankyo Material, which makes light metal products for other than construction, and Toyama Alloy, which makes aluminium billet. The firm tries to streamline the business to improve the efficiency. Sankyo Material posted 365 million yen of net profit with 35.187 billion yen of sales for the year ending May 2008 as the first year. The firm tries to post 930 million yen of operating profit and 770 million yen of recurring profit for the year ending May 2009 from 609 million yen and 372 million yen respectively in the year ending May 2008. The holding company tries to seek another growth in materials other than construction applications when Japanese construction market is expected not to grow. The firm tries to develop high valued market in non-construction materials by using the high level processing technology.
