Lead Scrap Price Keeps Flat in Tokyo

Market price of lead scrap keeps flat around Tokyo at 110-115 yen per kilogram for high grade scrap, 70-75 yen per kg for electrode plate scrap, 100-110 yen per kg for typographic lead scrap and 60-65 yen per kg for low grade scrap. Lead price at London Metal Exchange is unforeseeable. Lead scrap users are securing necessary volume scrap mostly at dealers’ offering prices when lead scrap supply maintains tight. On the other hand, some consumers are leaving from high price scrap.Scrap dealers are facing difficulty in lead scrap collection. Some of secondary lead smelters are paying as high as 150 yen per kg for high grade scrap. However, a source of secondary lead smelter said their purchasing price should down along the decline of LME lead price. Some smelters started to offer price cut. A scrap dealer source said they cannot sell high grade scrap at highest 130-140 yen.Market price range is widening by more than 10 yen per kg for lead battery scrap as well. Secondary lead smelters cannot secure enough scrap even though paying high price. Some of smelters, those who have no regular quota for domestic customers, are passing higher prices.
