Eramet to Increase Nickel Output by 20% in 2005
Nickel major supplier, Eramet of France will increase the nickel output by near 20% to 65,000-66,000 tonnes at Doniambo smelter in New Caledonia in 2005 from previous year, said the chairman Jacques Bacardats at press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday. The firm increases the output to annualized 70,000 tonnes by the end of the year when it pumps up the facility after the expansion in 2004. The firm rushes to increase the output when it expects nickel supply will keep tight though the user of stainless steel market faces adjustment.
