Japan Smelters to Increase Copper Output by 2% in 1H of F2005
Japanese major nonferrous metals smelters will increase copper output by 2.2% to 627,451 tonnes for first half of fiscal 2005 started April from same period of fiscal 2004, according to their plan announced on Friday. The largest maker of Nippon Mining and Metals will increase the output by around 4% and Sumitomo Mining will expand the output by 8% from second half of fiscal 2004 under better concentrate supply. Mitsubishi Materials will reduce the output due to planed maintenance.
