MITSUI Aims at Development of the Business and Operational Efficiency Further
Iron & Raw Materials and Non-Ferrous Metals Business Unit of MITSUI & CO., LTD. aims at development of the businesses and the operational efficiency in the nonferrous metal businesses of the group because the Unit became able to seek for synergy effect between the division of nonferrous metal product business to make investments in new businesses of strategic products and the derived field in the Unit, which was established last January, and MITSUI BUSSAN METALS SALES CO., LTD., the subsidiary. The movements of spinning off nonferrous metal business into a separate company have been well-promoted by Japanese major trading firms. In particular, through MITSUI group's having the division that takes the responsibility of making investments, it is easy for the affiliated companies to give impetus to their separate businesses: Last April MITSUI introduced product business accountability to the whole group; last November the firm transferred the division of trading of nonferrous metals to a MITSUI group company.
