Mitsui Mining & Smelting Prepares for Condition for Increase of Production
Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced on December 8 2004 that it would prepare for the condition of special electric copper foil production increases in the second Ageo plant, Saitama Prefecture. The firm will improve its equipment which the firm is currently stopping the operation to special foil line. In the first half of fiscal 2005, the firm will reinforce the current monthly productivity at 2.4 million square meters to the productivity at 2.9 million square meters. Furthermore, the firm is planning to increase that to 4.3 million square meters in 3-4 years. The second Ageo plant had been the productive line that had produced the all-purpose products with 35 micrometers thick until 2001 when the operation stopped.
By opening the operation, the plant will specialize in high-end special electrolytic copper foils mainly with 9-12 micrometers thick.
In July 2005, the new plant will start the operation.
