Hitachi Cable's Chinese Unit to Triple Sales in 3-4 years
Hitachi Cable Fine Tech's Chinese subsidiary in Suzhou targets 300 million yen per month of sales in 2007-2008 from estimated 110 million yen in December. The firm tries to expand sales for Japanese operations in China to 50% of sales from current 2%. The subsidiary was established in January 2004. The subsidiary, which is 70% owned by Hitachi Fine Tech and 30% owned by Hitachi Cable, assembles mechanical electric wires including medical cable, interface, ultra fine coaxial cable and antenna for personal computer.
Hitachi Cable Fine Tech established the subsidiary to reduce cost. The firm orders the subsidiary to assemble products. The subsidiary ships 98% of the products for Japanese parent company.
The subsidiary's sales were more than 20 million yen per month last year. The sales increased to 33 million yen in January-March and 42 million yen in April-June and to 84 million yen in October.
Firm demand, especially for antenna for PC increases the sales recently though wiring parts for solar contributed the growth before. Demand increases for laptop computer with antenna for wireless local area network increasing demand of antenna for PC.
The subsidiary's sales for antenna will increase to 36% of the total sales in December from 20% in October and 15% in last year. The firm expects additional growth of antenna contributes the profit. The firm tries to expand sales in China through cooperation with Shanghai Hitachi Cable Trading.
