Mitsui Mining and Smelting's Consolidated Ordinary and Net Profit to Become Record
According to the mid-term settlement in fiscal 2004, the year ending in March 2005 for Mitsui Mining and Smelting which the firm announced on November 1, the consolidated ordinary profit was 23.196 billion yen, up 86.6% from the same period of the previous year; the consolidated net profit was 10.089 billion yen, up 72% from the same period; and the consolidated sales were 215.789 billion yen, up 12.2% from the same period. The firm also announced that the firm's annual dividend would be increased by 1 yen to 6 yen.
Meanwhile, Dowa Mining announced the mid-term consolidated sales and profit in the current fiscal year as record high. The firm's consolidated sales were 115.064 billion yen, up 4.2% from the same period; the consolidated ordinary profit was 11.178 billion yen, up 66.7% from the same period.
The consolidated ordinary profit of the department of smelting business was 3.9 billion yen including 2 billion yen for increased profits due to price hikes of copper, gold, and indium, etc.
As for the department of businesses of electronic materials and metal processing, the ordinary profit was 4.2 billion yen from 3 billion yen in the same period.
