Nikko Materials Get Good Achievements
It is expected that Nikko Materials, Japan major electronic material maker,get the middle achievements of the term ended March, 2005 which exceed a plan of at the beginning because the sale of sputtering target material and rolling copper foil changed favorably, and also the firm's consolidated pretax profit expects redoubling mostly from 3 billion yen expected at the beginning according to the cost compression effect accompanying reexamination of the evaluation method of stock. Although display related material has greeted a correction, it is regarded as temporary adjustment and, as for a step, the second half also seems to maintain good condition.

The firm had at 2,600 million yen consolidated pretax loss in the term ended March, 2004. Although electrolysis copper foil demand was recovered, generating of a series of restructuring expenses, such as collecting the U.S. base to Arizona, influenced. However, it will have converted into the current account surplus from the second half. The restructuring effect and the demand for digital appliances should increase, and fold.

The firm is planning the consolidated pretax profit of the term ended March, 2005 at 3 billion yen in the first half, and at 3 billion yen in the second half. Now those profit exceed the plan. The role of a lead is target material and rolling copper foil.

Since the expansion of the liquid crystal panel market continues centering on thin shape television, the firm build up the productive capacity to 30 tonnes per month in March, 2005. The prospect of output of the sputtering target material will become at 25 tonnes per month in November - December.
