Fujikura will build a manufacturing factory of HDD parts in Wuxi in China
Fujikura will build a manufacturing factory of HDD parts in Wuxi in China. Carriage will be marked there. The firm plans to start to operate it and operate at full capacity next spring. The firm expects to produce 7-8 million units and to sell 4-5 billion yen in fiscal 2004. Moreover the firm plans to sell 10 billion yen and over in fiscal 2005. 3 billion yen per year seems to contribute to consolidated profit of Fujikura on the sales base.

Fujikura established Fujikura Electronics (Wuxi) Ltd, FWL, in this March as a subsidiary that develop and produce and sell HDD-related parts. Though HDD parts had been produced in a subsidiary in Thailand, LTEC, still now, FWL supplies for big HDD makers in China now.

FWL produces mainly assemblies added flexible printed circuit board (FPC) etc to carriage. Fujikura concentrates manufacturing base of electric parts in Thailand and China, and coils, FPC and connector and all are supplied from these manufacturing bases.

Fujikura plans to increase assemblies of HDD parts for digital consumer electronics and shipment ratio is expected to be over 50% in fiscal 2004.
