Demand of Aluminium Product to Increase by 5.0%
The actual results for the demand of Aluminium products in the first half of 2004 in Japan increased to 2.142471 million tonnes by 5.0% over the same period of last year, keeping the level of 2 million-tonne-mark for 2 consecutive years because of the good demand for transportation. The domestic demand was firm, according to Japan Aluminium Association.
In the demand category for use, the demand for transportation increased to 767,130 tonnes by 6.4% over the same period of last year; that for civil engineering and construction increased to 337,323 tonnes by 1.2% from the same period; that for metal products increased to 259,674 tonnes by 6.5% from the same period; especially, that for ordinary machine had greatly jumped increasing to 84,147 tonnes by 13.5% from the same period.
The demand for rolled products increased to 1.22514 million tonnes by 3.3% from the same period; that for casting products decreased to 197,208 tonnes by 5.6% from the same period; that for die-casting products increased to 463,956 tonnes by 10.7%from the same period; that for forged products increased to 21,457 tonnes by 20.3% from the same period; that for electric wires decreased to 14,773 tonnes by 24.1% from the same period.
