Furukawa's 'UNIC' Production in China
The Chinese factory of 'UNIC,' the crane equipped with track that Furukawa CO., LTD. has developed construction completes at the end of October, and the production in the local starts. The firm will finish the second stage construction including the part manufacturing line next year and aims at 3,000 units per year. Furthermore, the firm makes a high-quality brand UNIC known in the Chinese market where its demand will expand.
In China, a tight-money policy is pursued as part of economic stabilization in the first half of 2004. But before the big events of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and Shanghai Expo in 2010, the market of its construction and transportation is expanded.
The number of the track production, which is the standard of UNIC demand, grows up to the scale that exceeds one million units a year compared with 250,000 units a year including the number of the small-size cars in Japan.
Though the firm has exported specially equipped cars to China so far, the joint venture was established in China last September.
13 companies including local manufacturers have participated in the UNIC market in China in 2003. Judging from the number of the truck production, the market is still small. However, the competition will be going to be intensified by the quality and the price in the future.
