Shanghai Sigma to Start New Plant in Early 2005
Shanghai Sigma will start operation of new plant in Shanghai in the beginning of 2005 after it completes construction work in 2004. The Chinese alloyed aluminium maker entered into strategic alliance with Japanese top alloyed aluminium maker, Daiki Aluminium Industry in December 2002.
The firm builds plant with 20,000 tonnes per month of alloyed aluminium output capacity for US $25 million including first and second phases. The firm eyes additional capacity depending on market situation in China and Japan. Construction work was already finished for building on 360,000 square meters of land. The work is setting equipments in the plant.
The plant has 3 of closed die reverberators with 45 tonnes of capacity each for die-casting, a closed die reverberators with 25 tones of capacity for casting, 5 of rotary furnaces and equipment to pretreat scrap as first phase. The plant adds 3 of reverberators with 45 tonnes of capacity each, 3 of rotary furnaces and other equipment as second phase.
The construction was delay for a year due to delay of official approval along with considering world market condition, not only Japan and China though the new plant was planned to complete in the end of 2003.
