Hitachi Metals Build Up Sputtering Target Material for Liquid Crystal
Hitachi Metals, Japanese major electronic material maker, build up the productive capacity of the sputtering target material for liquid crystal. In order to strengthen the supply attitude for the consumers of South Korea or Taiwan which is the dump of liquid crystal industry, the firm increase the equipment capability of the their factory in Taiwan to 600 sheets from 300 per month. The plan for this to pull up the sales of the whole target material bussines from the present 700 million yen per month to 1 billion yen in the second half next year. The target manufacture base of the company is the company in the domestic Yasugi factory (Shimane Prefecture) and Taiwan factory, and supplies various targets, such as a hard disk (HD) and a semiconductor, mainly on the target for liquid crystal.
About the target material for liquid crystal, Yasugi factory has the integrated production attitudes, such as mixture and the press of raw material, machining, and bonding, and Taiwan factory has also the lower process equipment of machining, bonding, etc. Both factory correspond to the consumer of South Korea which grasps 70% or more of market share in a large-sized liquid crystal panel market, in 10 inches or more, and Taiwan.
