Export result of billet in January-June increased by 4.5% to 734,880 tonnes
Export result of billet in January-June increased by 4.5% for a year earlier to 734,880 tonnes, it was high level. January-April result kept excellent condition because orders from Asia increased and export price rose. Especially it for China rapidly increases. Though May-June result was below last year level, export price starts to increase again from the beginning of July and export situation is getting better. But drastic increase is not expected since Japanese electric furnaces manufactures reduce output in July-September.

In January-April, though billet was shipped heavily at around monthly 150,000 tonnes, orders from Asia started to decrease from April on the ground of adjustment phase in China, and it decreased by 38.3% from the previous month to 75,160 tonnes in May.

The price rose to FOB 50,000 yen or less at one point in March, but it fell to first half of 30,000 yen range in June. From the beginning of July, international price of ferrous scrap price is rising and orders of billet from Asia are recovering. In June, it increased by 12.6% from the previous month to 84,620 tonnes, it was increase in the past 3 months.

To see January-June result by destination, Korea decreased by 15.4% for a year earlier to 354,890 tonnes. China increased quintuple at 152,760 tonnes. Taiwan decreased by 28.9% to 119,680 tonnes. Vietnam increased by 21.2% to 97,160 tonnes, China was 1,010 tonnes and India was 8,220 tonnes.

Exports in June decreased by 29.7% from the previous month to 57,760 tonnes. It for China increased by 210% to 8,010 tonnes, for Taiwan decreased by 18.5% to 11,970 tonnes, for Vietnam decreased by 47.8% to 6,210 tonnes and for India was 330 tonnes.
