Kobe Steel to Expand Aluminium Plate to 2,200 tonnes per month
Aluminium and copper unit of Kobe Steel expands aluminium plate output capacity to 2,500 tonnes per month in January 2005 from current 2,200 tonnes to meet increasing demand.
The firm decided another expansion after it expanded aluminium plate output capacity to 2,200 tonnes per month from 2,000 tonnes. The firm tries to supply more materials for liquid crystal and semiconductor devices under tight supply.
Aluminium plate demand is firm for liquid crystal and semiconductor device and liquid natural gas carrier. Market experience severe tight supply when makers often cannot supply on time for delivery date. Such tight supply is likely to continue for a while with firm demand for can materials under hot summer because makers have limited output capacity and they are reluctant for major investment.
