2 Japanese Major Lead Refinements to Establish Plant in China
TOHO ZINC.,CO.LTD, Japanese major lead refinement maker, and GS YUASA CORPORATION founded the joint corporation in China, and announced on Thursday that they will start the recycling enterprise of the discarded battery from October 2005. The direct investment to the lead recycling enterprise in China by the Japanese refinement maker is the first. The productive capacity of the lead alloy metal is 12,000 tonnes per year. The joint corporation sells the whole quantity to the local manufacturing-and-selling subsidiary of G S YUASA, and also considers production of an electric lead in the future.

The joint corporation starts the lead alloy production for the automobile batteries which will use a discarded battery as materials in October, next year. The capital of the joint company is 250 million yen, as the interest rate, TOHO is 40%; G S YUASA 35%, and two China trading companies 10%, and Tianjin city 5%. The yearly output capability of the joint corporation is 12,000 tonnes, and the plottage is 20,000 square meters and the number of employees is about 60 people. The plant engineering company TDE of the TOHO ZINC group takes charge of installation of refinement equipment. The joint corporation is planning to start at one furnace, if the firm start the electric lead production, it consider building up. This amount of capital investment is about 500 million yen.

The joint corporation collects the discarded batteries used as mother material from the outskirts of Tianjin, and it will expand a collection-of-cargo network to a metropolis while production will be expanded from now on.
