Antimony Price Surges after Chinese Flood
International antimony price bounded sharply for the first time in 5 months after major producer of China were suffered by flood.
The price increased to $2,650-2,800 per tonne on Tuesday from $2,450-2,550 on Monday in Europe. The price shows sign for additional increase.
The market price had decreased with profit taking operation by Chinese traders despite of firm demand for information technology related users and antimonial lead after last peak of $2,875-2,975 per tonne in March.
Major flood occurred in late July covering 17 provinces in middle and southern part of China. Local report described the damage was historical. Antimony ore transportation from major mines in mountain area was apparently interrupted.
A major ingot trader said the sharp price increase represents how heavy the damage is. The trader expects the price should reach $3,000 per tonne.
